Leo Wotan moved to Colorado from Elgin, Illinois with his wife and three daughters for some of the many reasons most people do:  He and his family wanted a beautiful state with a smaller population, a new career direction, and a better quality of life for the family in a state which offers year around outdoor recreational opportunities and a fine educational system. 

Leo graduated from the University of Illinois with a B.S. and a law degree. His career in Illinois included: clerking for the Illinois Supreme Court, associate attorney for UAL, leading his own law firm in Elgin, Illinois as “senior partner” emphasizing litigation, real estate, and family law.  After moving to Colorado, Leo established Wotan & Associates, P.C., as senior partner, practicing in the same areas of law but adding, criminal law, wills, trusts, and small business counseling. He became a licensed Colorado real estate broker in 1984, while still legally representing buyers, sellers, and real estate brokers in all aspects of real transactions and litigation.

More recently, Leo has concentrated his time in real estate brokerage representing Sellers, Buyers, Investors, Landlords, and Tenants in all kinds of residential and commercial transactions.  Years of experience with “mixed use” land development in Colorado, he is knowledgeable in the related areas of real estate development, land use management, water and mineral ownership rights and obligations, as well as dealing with municipal governments in such areas.

Leo’s interest in our community motivated his involvement in such organizations as:  Loveland Kiwanis Club; Habitat for Humanity; CASA; State and local Bar Association and Realtor’s committees; Loveland’s Agenda for the 90s.  Most recently he served as member and then Chairman of the City of Loveland’s Affordable Housing Commission.  Leo’s outdoor interests include golf, fishing, wildlife viewing, and tennis.  He takes an avid interest in government, economics, and current events.  Leo’s family has always had cats and/or dogs out of their love of animals.
